Mama Deb

I'm recovering from a rather nasty stomach virus. It hit me last night during the synagogue dinner - the dinner where my husband was being honored (along with eight or so others - we were honoring our ba'alei tefilah, our amateur cantors.) I ate half a bowl of broccoli soup, and when the main course came - not really food. I stayed until the speeches were over, although I spent part of that on a couch just off the dining room. Where instead of resting, I was "attacked" by a pair of adorable blonde sisters. They're 3 and 4 and have decided they like me. Abba was getting them ready to go, so it wasn't that bad, although they wanted to know "why" my tummy hurt.

We decided that I should call a cab to go home while Jonathan stayed and got a ride from someone, and we were on our way out when I realized I needed to be in the ladies' room RIGHT THEN. The broccoli soup didn't taste any better the second time. :( And I need to get my suit dry-cleaned now, too.

I got out, I got a hug from my thirteen year old friend (her family sat at our table, too) and Jonathan found me a ride home. Which was really unpleasant. I don't throw up easily, normally. It usually takes so much effort I break the capillaries around my eyes and I look like I have a red raccoon mask. I have a permanently burst one in one eyelid. But not this time. And, well, there were other purging going one. By the time it ended, not only was I running a major deficit in water, and I swear I tasted breakfast cereal, too, but I think there was noting at all left in my system. Completely empty. This is why I think it was a virus - Byetta (which I did not take today) can cause nausea and even vomiting, but not diarrhea.

Food is sitting happily now, and I'm drinking water, so things are settling down. But it was a nasty night. And we have a new placque for the wall, too.
