We saw the old house today

It was definitely my house. It even had the same paneling - a peculiar greenish brown - that my dad put in. The old shag carpet was gone, replaced with parquet floors. The kitchen had been remodeled and looked totally 80s. They'd also removed the wall to the dinette.

The bedrooms had been carpeted. One bedroom had had a study attached. They'd made a single room out of that. And everything had been repainted.

The basement was almost entirely unchanged - same paneling, same floor, same tulip light fixtures, same leftover flocked wallpaper in the bathroom.

We'd remodeled the basement because I needed my own room, instead of sharing with my little brother, and there was no other way of doing it. So they built a rec room, a bedroom and a bathroom in the basement. an older brother moved there and they painted my room pink. The room is no longer pink.

The price is too high and it's too much house, but it was fun and we went out for Japanese afterwards.
