And now for something completely different:

If anyone wants, I'll do some first kisses. Give me a pairing - *any* pairing so long as I'm familiar with them.

"I just wish we could hide from your mother." Bill flopped onto a fallen tree trunk just off the walking path. Deanna sat next to him, feeling all of his frustration plus something more.

"Mother can be a bit intimidating, I suppose. But why do you wish to *hide*?" Perhaps it was because all of her friends also had their parents somewhere in the backs of their heads, but she couldn't understand why he was so bothered - Mother wasn't in *his* head, after all.

"Because I want to do *this*." He wrapped his hands around her head and kissed her. Deanna kissed him back. In her head, her mother chortled.

Lwaxana is by far my favorite ST character. Thank you!

One of the following:
Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe
Meg Murry and Calvin O'Keefe
Tarkheena Aravis & Shasta/Prince Cor

I can't improve on LMM's own description of Anne and Gilbert's first kiss. :)

And, it's been too long for the other two. I'm sorry.

Now I'll have to go back to the book for that one.

Maybe I'll write one or both of the other two. :)

Last paragraph in Anne of the Island - I checked on gutenberg to make sure. Quite satisfying - no way could I better it.

James ran into the dorm, danced Peter around, announced he had an actual date with Lily Evans, danced Peter around *again* and left before Remus had time to do more than lift his head from his book. Peter, in a daze, followed James out, leaving Remus and Sirius alone in the dorm. Sirius, for his part, was laughing, which always made Remus feel tight inside.

"How come you never get that way about girls, Padfoot? It's not like you couldn't get one for the asking."

Sirius shrugged. "Could ask you the same question." He flopped himself down on his bed and began to practice silent levitation spells, lifting his socks over and over again.

"Right, mate." He rolled his eyes. "Except for my little problem and all. And I'm no pureblood prince like you and Prongs over there."

"I'd give that over in a second." He tossed his long hair back. Remus had to stare at it. "Anyway, good thing." He looked back at Remus. "I'd hate any girl you'd dated, I would. Because." He took a deep breath. "What the hell. I know your secret. Because I'd be jealous of her."

Oh. Well. Then. Remus smiled and moved to Sirius' bed, and took him in his arms. When they kissed, it was better than how he'd dreamed it would be.

Back to my happy one: Neville/Harry

"I can't do it. I can't do it anymore." Harry wrapped his hands around his knees, still clutching his wand. Sometimes it felt like that wand was welded to his hand.

Neville knelt next to him. "Of course you can." He put his hand on Harry's shoulder. It was warm and steady.

"It's too much. I'm only...I'm only seventeen - they were only seventeen. Ron and Hermione and...I can't go out again. Not without...not alone."

"You're not alone. Ron'll be fine and Hermione...she's got her books. She'll be fine. And..." He moved closer. Harry had never had anyone - not even Ginny - be so close. "I'll be there. I'm not Ron, or Hermione, but you taught me how to use a wand, Harry. I won't leave you. If you don't want me to. Anyway, you have to."

He turned to face Neville, and his kindness. "What if I can't? What if I don't have what it takes to do it? What if it was supposed to be you, Neville?"

"It's never me." He licked his lips, considering, and then reached up to stroke Harry's hair. Harry didn't, couldn't move. "You're the best of us, Harry. You can do this. And I will do what I can, whatever I can." And then he smiled. "I will be there. For you."

His lips looked soft, and his hands were gentle and there was something in Neville's eyes that Harry had never seen before. "Neville? Can I kiss you?"

Neville didn't even blink at the question. "Yes, please."

They were soft, and gentle, and kind, and Harry let Neville hold him for a long time afterwards.

"

"I really do love her, Leo." Jed tipped back his beer, shaking his head in wonder.

"I kinda figured, you know. When we met, you were all for becoming a priest." Leo sipped at his own glass. He'd get drunk later. Maybe. "To give up a calling for a girl..."

"Not just a girl. The girl. Bright and and so beautiful, you can't believe. And she's in medical school - she's going to be a doctor, a surgeon. Can you believe it?"

"You deserve the best, you know. But you can't get her because Jenny's mine." He drank some more and stared at Jed - all energy and ambition and brilliance, just like Abbey. And he knew that whatever he did with his life, he'd do it in Jed's orbit. But Abbey would also be closer, and somehow that burned. He knew it was wrong, and he knew Jed would never agree to it, liberal though he was, but he knew what he wanted. Instead, he finished his beer and filled the glass again.

So when Jed suddenly leaned forward and kissed him, he didn't know what to think.

"I love you, too, Leo. Always."
