Yom Kippur

This was not the way I'd planned today. I was going to make dinner early, go out for a mani-pedi, get some pizza maybe. Drink a lot of water. Think about the next day and the emotions it would bring.

I was ill yesterday, starting in the afternoon - a low fever (I'm still running a tad hot for me), diarrhea, nausea. And drinking water only made it all worse. I think I caught some sort of virus.

Today, other than the fever, I seem to be much better. I have actual appetite, I'm taking pains to be hydrated and I think that I've finally eaten enough that I'll be fine tomorrow. I'll take things as they come, of course and I'm not ruling out drinking this time around, although I hope to avoid it.

But I'm so worried about the fast that I'm not thinking about anything else.

But for the rest of you - those of you who are fasting, may it be easy, and may those who observe day truly repent.

If I have offended any of you during the past year, please forgive me.

Oh, dear. I hope you feel better soon, and that being ill doesn't make your fast too hard.

When I tried to keep the Tisha B'Av fast, I ended up in the hospital for three days. I suppose you could say I fasted successfully, as I was NPO and on IV fluids for that time. This time, I'm not trying it. Good for you for recognizing the potential issues and being flexible. May your fast be easy and safe, and if you must break it for your health may that not disturb your contemplation.

May you feel better soon and may your fast be easy and your day spirutally rewarding.

I hope you feel better soon and that you can fast.
